Rainy Maternity Photoshoot in Downtown Alpharetta

As a maternity photographer in Alpharetta, I like to remind my clients that some of the most meaningful sessions happen when things don’t go exactly as planned. This maternity photoshoot with Alison and Philip was the perfect example. What started as a gloomy, overcast day turned into an emotional and personal maternity session that beautifully reflects their journey into parenthood. These two were absolute troopers. We got some very special photos, all thanks to their down-for-anything attitude and excitement at being new parents.

From Georgia Tech Engineers to Excited Expectant Parents

Alison and Philip are both engineers who met while studying at Georgia Institute of Technology. Their shared love of problem-solving, curiosity, and persistence has shaped not only their careers, but also their relationship. Now living in the Atlanta area and preparing to welcome their first baby, they wanted maternity photos that felt authentic and relaxed.

Why Rainy Maternity Photos Are Pure Magic

Rain very often worries clients, but from a photographer’s perspective, it creates incredible atmosphere. Soft, diffused light flatters skin tones, clouds add drama, and gentle rain brings intimacy that sunny days often lack.

For Alison and Philip, the rain slowed everything down. They leaned into each other, laughed between raindrops, and shared quiet moments that made the images feel cinematic and emotional. Umbrellas, natural movement, and close connection turned the session into something truly timeless.

If there’s a chance of rain on your photoshoot day, please let me know your concerns! I will always come up with ways to pivot – whether that’s a different location choice or extra accessories like cute umbrellas and blankets. As long as it’s not a monsoon, we can come up with some beautiful solutions.

A Celebration of New Beginnings

This rainy maternity photoshoot wasn’t just about documenting a pregnancy, it was about honoring a season of transition. Alison and Philip are stepping into parenthood with the same teamwork and intention that brought them together at Georgia Tech, and it was an honor to capture that chapter for them.

If you’re expecting and wondering whether to reschedule due to weather, let this be your sign. Rain can add emotion, romance, and storytelling depth to your photoshoot in ways sunshine never could.

If you’re looking for an Alpharetta maternity photographer who embraces real moments, weather and all, I would love to help tell your story.
